This is a story of how two people have prayed and how God has responded. It began with a girl praying for God to send her the man God knew would be the perfect one for her. God listened and Shawn came into her life bringing fun, friendship and a love so sweet that she is still amazed by it. The happy couple enjoyed many adventures and wonderful times together but eventually felt like something was missing. God was listening as always and sent Garrison, a child full of hugs, laughs and sunshine. The couple was so grateful for this child but eventually felt like something was still missing. Once again God listened to their prayers and sent Foster, a child with deep thoughts, sweet smiles and lots of precious angel kisses on his nose. The couple was again very grateful to have been so blessed but something was still missing. Ever faithful, God sent Trox, a child with endless energy who brings out the best in everyone around him and gathers smiles wherever he goes. Even with this third gift, the couple still felt something was missing and prayed for God to show them what more blessings he wanted to add to their lives. God answered that their last (?)- blessing was waiting for them in Russia. Join us as this story continues with their journey to Moscow.

Wednesday October 19th 2011

9 AM – We head down for our daily buffet at the motel; I steer clear of the raw eggs this time! The chef frowned at me when I said that I like my eggs to be cooked J

Yuri & Irene pick us up and take us to the Doctor’s offices. They were housed in a beautiful 1920’s era building with granite floors and moldings all over the place (Picture Below). Most of the buildings here are very clean, ornate and there is almost always a coat check. You also have to wear the little plastic booties over your feet in any medical facility.
The first of 8 doctors was the botanist/disease specialist. He questioned us about having communicable diseases. We told him that our lives were not that exciting with 3 children to chase around J. He reviewed our blood test results and gave us his seal of approval.

Next, the Cardiologist spent more time telling me how beautiful my wife was. He was all giddy saying how she could pass as a Russian I don’t think he even looked at me!

The neurologist was very gruff and she more resembled the other men there. After questioning us some and making us take something like a field sobriety test (So I hear!), we were both passed.

The oncologist did have us remove our shirts and did a through exam. Thank God, everything passed here too.

The Surgeon was very young looking and pleasant and did more talking than examining. Having 3 children himself, was the only one that didn’t think we were crazy for having so many kids.

Next was a Psychiatrist. I wasn’t too worried about this one since I am completely normal and have no weird tendencies (Ha). He was a nice gentleman and actually spoke English (He didn’t let this be known till the end of the evaluation, probably part of the test!)

The Plumologist looked at our chest X-Rays for a couple minutes and then proceeded to lecture on how many Russians ruin their lungs by smoking. I was very grateful to not be part of that subject J

The Dermatologist had us dress down to our underwear. She didn’t find anything scary despite my years of sun damage. She later asked Christy where I got my face sunburned. Christy told her that I may have been blushing because of being close to naked.

3PM - We are on a mission to find a special type of skin cream for our sweet little girl's dry skin. The baby home is not able to afford any specialized lotions for the kids. Five Pharmacies later through some crazy traffic, we were able to locate it.

On the way back back to the motel, Christy was able to sniff out a Russian Chocolate factory.  She and Irene spent the next 45 minutes drooling over all of the choices. It was pretty cool all of the objects they were able to make out of chocolate.

We got back just in time to video call our kids on Skype. Normally we are getting back after the kids have left to go to school. It was such a joy to see their faces while talking to them. Trox even gave the computer screen a hug for us J I don’t think the kids have had time to miss us too much. Between both sets of Grandparents they have had a very busy schedule. I don’t see how we could have done this trip without them!  Now our only challenge will be re-introducing the word “No” to them J

We worked for a couple hours then headed down to a Czech Pilsner restaurant and brewery.  Christy had some kind of meat goolash in a bread bowl and I had some baked beef that was actually pretty good!
